Where Creativity Meets Community
We are quilters living on British Columbia’s southern coastline from Gibsons to Egmont. Some of us have quilted for decades; others are just getting started. We come together to create beautiful textile works, to socialize and connect, and to share and learn together as a community.
The Sunshine Coast Quilters’ Guild had an informal start in 1982 and organized into a Quilting Guild and BC non-profit society in 1991. Today, it is a single organization connecting 120+ members across the south coastal communities. We salute the original quilting circle! (see timeline below).
Eight Resource Days per year are the collective heart of the Guild’s member gatherings. The Guild also presents a full program of Registered Events to promote the enjoyment of quilting on the Coast through workshops, retreats, demonstrations, displays and biennial quilt shows.
Comfort Society
The Comfort Society committee is the Guild’s community outreach arm, with members generously creating baby, lap, and various bed-sized quilts with materials provided by the Guild. Finished quilts are donated to people across the Sunshine Coast who need one, to provide support and comfort.

1982
The Guild's Beginning
In 1982, a group of women on the Sunshine Coast got together to share their love of quilting. Pat Crucil, an accomplished quilter and teacher, established the first coastal quilt group, and the Sunshine Coast Quilters’ Guild was born.

1984
A Wedding Gift,
Made Together
The early guild made things for each other, not just for show.
In September 1984, a group quilt was presented by Pat Crucil to Pauline (nee Hoene) Webber as a wedding gift: a small example of a habit the guild has never lost.
1985
A Growing Circle
In 1985, a Quilters’ Christmas where new members had joined the founders. The community that would one day stretch from Pender Harbour to Gibsons was taking shape.
