Common Questions

Do I need to be an experienced quilter to join?

Not at all. The guild welcomes quilters at every skill level, including complete beginners. Monthly meetings and workshops are a great place to learn, and the community is generous with knowledge and encouragement.

May I attend a meeting before deciding to join?

Yes. Visitors are welcome at Guild meetings! Come along to see if the Guild is a good fit before you commit to membership. Just let us know you are new on arrival. If you decide to join by the next Resource Day, the $10 guest fee is applied to your membership fee.

How do I send an e-transfer to the Guild?

Go to your online banking; set up an Interac e-transfer from your bank to the Guild. The email address for the e-transfer is payments@scqguild.ca .

When does my membership renew?

One year from the date you sign up.  We will send automated reminders by email a few weeks out from the expiry date.

What credit or debit cards can I use for membership, registered events, or the biennial quilt show?

Starting in August 2026, our new website will process any credit card for membership, event registrations and the 2027 Quilt Show. If you use a credit card for membership, it will auto-renew until you remove the card information. We cannot accept debit cards at this time but e-transfer, cheque, and cash are other options. See our Registered Events page for payment details.

When are Resource Day meetings and what does it cost to attend?

Resource Days are the last Saturday in September-November, and January through May annually. They are included in your membership dues so there are no booking fees to participate. The mini-workshops held at Resource Days are $5.00; sign up at the door to learn techniques from member mentors.

Does the Guild accept donations?

Yes, thanks for asking! We accept most quilting supplies, cash for community quilt supply purchases, and we welcome your volunteer time. Please see the Comfort Society page and get in touch.Unfortunately, we are not a charitable organization and therefore cannot issue tax receipts for donations.
